The manager of English Premier League side Nottingham Forest, Sean Dyche, has provided an update on the injury status of Super Eagles defender Ola Aina.

Aina has been sidelined in recent weeks due to injury and was subsequently ruled out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, a setback for both club and country.

Speaking on the defender’s recovery, Dyche revealed that Aina is making steady progress but remains some distance away from full match fitness.

“Ola is about halfway through his progress in terms of fitness,” Dyche said. “He is training more regularly with the team now, which is good, but it has been a long-term injury, so we have had to be careful with that one.

“He is still a bit of a way off with his true fitness. He has been out for a long time, and it takes even longer to reach that deep level of fitness, but he is making good progress forward.”

Nottingham Forest will continue to monitor Aina’s recovery closely as they manage his return to full action, while the Super Eagles will hope the versatile defender regains full fitness ahead of future international engagements.
