Nigeria’s Super Eagles have finally arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter against Benin Republic.

The team’s arrival was delayed after the ValueJet chartered aircraft conveying them from Polokwane, South Africa, developed a cracked windscreen mid-journey, forcing an unscheduled stop for safety checks.

After the brief delay, the delegation safely touched down in Uyo at exactly 8:05 a.m. on Sunday.

A victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Tuesday, coupled with South Africa’s failure to defeat Rwanda, would see Nigeria finish top of the group and seal automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
