Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have unveiled a provisional roster ahead of the forthcoming FIBA African Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament.
The announcement was made by the Nigeria Basketball Federation as preparations intensify for the crucial qualifiers scheduled for March 2026.
Nigeria will battle continental heavyweights including Mali, Senegal and South Sudan, who all confirmed their places on Thursday, July 31, following the conclusion of the quarter-final round of matches at the ongoing competition in Cote d’Ivoire.
The 2026 qualifying tournaments will feature 24 national teams across four global events, with each host city staging a six-team competition.
At the end of the qualification series, 16 nations will secure tickets to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The global showpiece is slated to hold later in 2026 in Germany, where the world’s elite women’s basketball nations will compete for top honours.
D’Tigress, one of Africa’s dominant forces in recent years, will be aiming to navigate the qualifiers successfully and maintain their strong presence on the global stage.
