D’Tigers hopes of bouncing back in the ongoing window One of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers suffered another blow on Saturday, following a second consecutive defeat.
After opening their campaign with a loss to hosts Tunisia in Rades, the Nigerian team returned to action against Guinea but again fell short, losing 69-55 in a disappointing performance.
Guinea started the game strongly, taking control from the opening tip and winning the first quarter 22-16. D’Tigers attempted to rally, but turnovers and poor shooting continued to haunt the side as they trailed 35-26 going into halftime.
The story remained the same in the third quarter, with Guinea stretching their lead to 52-41 as Nigeria struggled to find rhythm at both ends of the floor.
Despite late efforts to close the gap, Guinea maintained composure and sealed a comfortable win, leaving D’Tigers without a victory after two games in the qualifying series.
Nigeria will now need to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next fixture, where a win becomes crucial to revive their qualification hopes.
