Nigeria remain Africa’s highest-ranked women’s team in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

The Super Falcons kept their spot at the continent’s summit, following a slight 0.8-point increase  from 1622.49 to 1623.29  which leaves them 36th in the world.

This update reflects games played since March 6, 2025. Although Nigeria didn’t feature in any match during that period, they later faced Cameroon in two games in May and June, securing a win and a draw.

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana remain Africa’s number two team at 54th in the world, dropping 1.57 points to 1488.49, despite a strong four-game winning streak.

Morocco, a strong contender during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, fell by eight points to 1419.63, dropping to 60th in the world rankings.

Cameroon made the most significant stride among African teams. The Indomitable Lionesses jumped up two places to 64th with a 7.3-point boost to their total (now 1396.20) even after losing their only match in the last window against Nigeria.

Zambia slipped slightly to 65th after losing 4.67 points. The Copper Queens’ form has been patchy, with two draws and two losses in their last four games.

Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire stayed put at 66th and 72nd, respectively. The Black Queens drew and lost a match, while the Ivorians secured a win alongside a draw.

Further down, Mali (78th), Senegal (81st), and Algeria (82nd) remain in their respective positions, with no change in points after their latest games, which all resulted in draws.

On the global stage, the United States retain their number-one spot, even after a recent loss to Brazil. Spain and Germany are close behind, while Brazil’s strong form  including their win over the USA  lifts them up to fourth place. Egypt stands out as Africa’s biggest mover, advancing seven places to reach 93rd.

The next FIFA Women’s World Rankings will be released on August 7, 2025 10 days after the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while the men’s update is scheduled for July 10, 2025.
