As Rangers prepare for their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash, Nigerian international and Gers defender Leon Balogun believes that playing the first leg away against Fenerbahce presents a significant advantage.
Rangers will face the Turkish side in the opening leg on Thursday, and Balogun sees it as a valuable opportunity for the team.
“It’s a big opportunity for us on Thursday, playing away. Given what happened domestically, it might actually work in our favor, helping us regain the support of our fans,” Balogun told the Belfast Telegraph.
“That being said, we need to take at least two big steps forward from our current level to get a positive result.
“It also helps that we play European football again just a week later, so it’s a huge chance for us,” he added.
