Eric Sekou Chelle, the newly appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, has explained the reasons behind his decision to take on the role.
Chelle, who hails from France, was announced as Nigeria’s national team coach last week. Reflecting on the appointment, he admitted that it was a difficult decision to leave his previous position.
“The MCO will always hold a special place in my heart,” Chelle stated during his final media interaction.
“This is my last meeting with you, marking the end of my time here. From Monday, I’ll be in Nigeria to begin a new chapter.”
He further added, “The MCO officials wanted me to stay, but managing one of the best teams in Africa and the world is an opportunity that cannot be turned down.”
Chelle is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Monday to finalize his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
