Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey was on the scoresheet on Saturday evening as Fulham claimed a 3–2 away victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.
Fulham took an early lead in the 9th minute through Emile Smith Rowe, but Burnley responded when Leslie Ugochukwu drew the hosts level in the 21st minute. Bassey restored Fulham’s advantage in the 31st minute with a well-taken goal, capping an impressive first-half display from the visitors.
The London club extended their lead in the second half when Harry Wilson made it 3–1 in the 58th minute, putting Fulham firmly in control of the contest. Burnley mounted a late push, and Oliver Sonne reduced the deficit in the 86th minute, but it was not enough to deny Fulham all three points as the match ended 3–2.
Following the fixture, Bassey, alongside fellow Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, is expected to depart to join Nigeria’s national team camp in Egypt as preparations continue ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
