Arsenal opened their Premier League campaign with a statement victory, edging Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Ricardo Calafiori scored the decisive goal in the first half, capitalizing on a set-piece situation. The Italian defender headed home after United’s stand-in goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, failed to deal with Declan Rice’s corner.
The result extends Arsenal’s dominance over United in recent years, with the Gunners now unbeaten in their last six league meetings (five wins, one draw). It also marks their third straight unbeaten trip to Old Trafford, where they have now claimed two wins and a draw.
Both sides handed debuts to their summer signings. United lined up with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, while Benjamin Šeško featured off the bench. Arsenal’s newest recruits also played their part in an encouraging start to the season for Mikel Arteta’s men.
