World record holder in the women’s 100 metres hurdles, Tobi Amusan, has been officially confirmed for the 2025 Diamond League season opener in Xiamen, China.
The organizers released the entry list for the Xiamen Meeting on Tuesday, confirming Amusan’s place in what promises to be a fiercely contested field.
Set to take place on April 26 at Egret Stadium, the event marks the third edition of the Chinese leg of the prestigious series and will feature nine track and seven field events in its main program.
Amusan, who boasts a personal best of 12.12 seconds and is currently ranked 13th globally, will be up against a strong field in the 100m hurdles. Her rivals include Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, the world indoor record holder in the 60m hurdles and ranked seventh worldwide; Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, a world champion with a personal best of 12.32 seconds; as well as top Americans Grace Stark, Tonea Marshall, and Nia Ali.
Her appearance in Xiamen follows a strong start to her season. Competing at the Velocity Fest 16 in Jamaica last Saturday, Amusan clinched victory in the women’s 100 metres final with a time of 11.28 seconds despite a -0.5 m/s headwind.
