Australian sports commentator Bob Ballard has been suspended by Eurosport following a comment he made about the Australian relay team.
Swimmers Mollie O’Callaghan, Emma McKeon, Meg Harris and Shayna Jack won gold in the 4x100m freestyle at the Olympic Games on Saturday.
As the swimmers walked away from the pool, Ballard said “You know how women are… hanging around, doing their make-up.”
Co-commentator Lizzie Simmonds immediately responded that Ballard’s remark was inappropriate.
Eurosport reported on Sunday that Ballard is no longer on the roster for commentary for the Games.
Ballard himself has not yet responded.
