Belgian football powerhouse Club Brugge has officially announced the appointment of former Super Eagles forward Joseph Akpala as an assistant coach.
In a statement released by the club, Akpala, 38, joins the technical crew from KV Kortrijk, where he served as an assistant coach over the past three seasons.
“Akpala (38) comes from KV Kortrijk, where he worked as assistant coach for the past 3 seasons. The former striker played for Club from 2008 to 2012 and is now returning to the staff,” the statement read.
Club Brugge also revealed that Akpala will take on the role of Player Development Coach, focusing on the individual growth and performance of players within the first team.
Akpala, who began his professional career at Bendel Insurance, was a member of Nigeria’s squad to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup under the late coach Stephen Keshi.
