Eric Sekou Chelle, the newly appointed head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, expressed immense pride in taking on the prestigious role.

The France-born coach made these remarks during his official unveiling in Abuja on Monday.

Chelle promised to shape the Super Eagles into a powerful, goal-scoring team, underscoring his commitment to an attacking style of play.

“I am truly honored and excited to be named the head coach of the Super Eagles,” Chelle stated.

“Nigeria has a rich football tradition, with legends like Ikpeba, Amokachi, Amuneke, Oliseh, Yekini, Eguavoen, Finidi, West, Obi Mikel, and Babangida. I was a fan during their era and continue to admire the new generation, with talents such as Lookman, Osimhen, and others.”

“I have always been passionate about scoring goals. My teams are known for their attacking strength, and I assure you that the Super Eagles will be no different,” he added.

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed that Eric Chelle’s contract with the Super Eagles is set to run until 2027.

Gusau clarified that the contract was always intended to be medium-term, initially planned to end in 2026.

When questioned about Chelle’s salary, Gusau declined to disclose details, stating, “The specifics of his salary are a matter between him and the NFF. We will release that information when the time is right.”
