The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the list of referees selected to officiate at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Algeria and Morocco each stand out with two representatives among the central referees—an uncommon distinction that highlights their growing influence in African officiating.

From Algeria, Lotfi Bekouassa, a promising talent who has already made his mark in several CAF youth competitions, will be on duty. He’ll be joined by Houssem Benyahia, a familiar face in North African regional tournaments.

Morocco also boasts two central referees: Kech Chaf Mustapha, a regular presence in CAF club competitions, and Hamza El Fariq, who will not only officiate at CHAN but is also slated to serve as a VAR referee at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Burkina Faso is the third nation with a double presence, represented by Jean Ouattara and Vincent Kaboré, further underscoring CAF’s recognition of their referee development efforts.

Other referees hail from across the continent, reflecting CHAN’s pan-African character. These include:

Abdou Abdel Mefire (Cameroon)

Kpan Clément Franklin (Ivory Coast)

Malala Kabanga Yannick (DR Congo)

Diouf Adalbert (Senegal)

Ousmane Diakhaté (Mali)

Officials from Zimbabwe, Niger, Madagascar, Gambia, and Libya

The selection affirms CAF’s commitment to continental inclusion and the development of officiating talent across Africa.
