CHAN 2024: Nigeria to face Senegal, Congo, Sudan in group stage

Nigeria, the 2018 silver medalists, will compete against Senegal, Sudan, and the Republic of Congo in Group D of the 8th African Nations Championship.

The tournament has been rescheduled for August 2025 but will still be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

During the draw held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi on Wednesday, joint-host Kenya was placed in Group A, alongside Morocco, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia. Kenya will face 2018 champions Morocco in the opening match.

Tanzania, also a joint-host, leads Group B, where they will play against Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic, who recently defeated Cameroon. These five teams will compete for two knockout round spots.

Uganda, the third co-host, will battle Niger Republic, Guinea, and two wild-card teams yet to be determined by the Confederation of African Football in Group C.

Groupings:

Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia
Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C: Uganda, Niger Republic, Guinea, Wild Card 2, Wild Card 1
Group D: Senegal, Congo Brazzaville, Sudan, Nigeria
