The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has introduced a series of new regulations for teams participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

These measures aim to streamline operations and ensure a smooth competition for all participating nations.

Key changes include:

1. Squad Submission Deadline: All national teams must submit their final 23-man squad at least 10 days before the tournament’s kickoff. Failure to meet this deadline will incur a hefty $10,000 fine.

2. Player Travel Restrictions: CAF has placed limits on team travel, with only 18 players from each squad allowed to travel between cities for matches. These players will be permitted to travel by plane, road, or train as required for fixtures.

3. Matchday Travel Rules: Teams moving between Rabat and Casablanca will be required to travel on matchday morning. However, teams traveling to other cities will be allowed to make the journey the day before their match.

4. Training Restrictions: Teams will not be allowed to hold full training sessions at the match venues the day before a game. Instead, they can only visit the stadium to familiarize themselves with the venue between 2 pm and 9 pm, subject to CAF approval.

A number of countries are expected to travel between cities during the group stage, including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Botswana, DR Congo, Benin, Mozambique, Cameroon, Gabon, Comoros, Mali, Zambia, Sudan, Burkina Faso, and Equatorial Guinea.

These new regulations are designed to enhance the logistical management of the tournament, ensuring that teams focus on their performance while also maintaining smooth operations throughout the competition.
