Nigerian international Victor Boniface has broken his silence on the failed transfer to Italian giants AC Milan, revealing his side of the story while maintaining that he holds no regrets over the outcome.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker, who has been in scintillating form since his arrival in Germany, was strongly linked with a move to Milan during the last transfer window.

However, negotiations ultimately collapsed, leaving fans and pundits speculating about what went wrong.

Speaking in an interview, Boniface dismissed rumors surrounding the failed deal and insisted that he fulfilled his part of the agreement.

“I did my part, but that’s football,” he said. “You’re here for one year, and two years later you’re gone. Whatever you want to believe in the media, that’s not my business. So if the media says I’m a good boy, believe it; if they say I’m a bad boy, believe it. I don’t care.”

Addressing speculations about possible injury concerns, the 23-year-old was quick to clarify that he was fully fit at the time of negotiations.

“I was 100 percent physically okay. If that weren’t the case, I’d be in the hospital and wouldn’t be able to speak here right now,” he stated with a shrug.

When asked about his personal feelings towards missing out on the Serie A move, Boniface remained philosophical, stressing that the decision was entirely Milan’s.

“It’s not my fault. They decided not to pursue it,” he explained. “I have a strong mentality and see life this way: if something like this happens, then it’s meant to be. For me, it’s not a problem; I just move on”, he told club media

Despite the disappointment, Boniface’s focus remains firmly on his performances in the Bundesliga and with the Nigerian national team, where he continues to enhance his reputation as one of Africa’s brightest attacking talents.
