Bayer Leverkusen beat VfB Stuggart on penalties to win the German Super Cup.

The team of coach Xabi Alonso won on penalties against VfB Stuttgart, last season’s number 2 in the Bundesliga.

After regular playing time, the score was 2-2. Jeremie Frimpong came on as a substitute for Leverkusen in the 73rd minute.

In the eleventh minute, Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface put his team ahead.

A few minutes later, the score was level again through Enzo Millot. After 36 minutes, Leverkusen had to continue in their own stadium with one man less after new signing Martin Terrier was shown a straight red card. In the 63rd minute, Stuttgart made it 2-1 with a goal from Deniz Undav, who had barely been on the pitch for a minute. Patric Schick, also a substitute, forced penalties in the 88th minute.

Leverkusen took them better, meaning that the first prize of the season has already been won.
