Newly appointed Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has expressed his disappointment over the continued absence of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The skilful attacker has refused to return to training with the Bergamo-based club after they turned down a bid from fellow Serie A side Inter Milan.
Currently in London, Lookman has reportedly made it clear that he no longer wishes to play for Atalanta.
As the former UEFA Europa League champions step up preparations for the new season, Juric told Italian Football TV that replacing the 26-year-old will be a major challenge.
“We lost players who produced 80–90% of our goals; it won’t be easy to replace them. I don’t think we’ll sign anyone who can match the numbers of Retegui or Lookman, but we need to sign smart,” Juric said.
