Africa’s top table tennis ace, Aruna Quadri, is set to lead the continent’s campaign at the 2025 WTT Star Contender in Ljubljana, Slovenia — a prestigious event featuring $300,000 in prize money and vital ITTF world ranking points.
Currently ranked 24th globally, Quadri is seeded 14th in the men’s singles and has received a direct pass into the second round (round of 32). He will kick off his quest for glory against the winner of the match between Japan’s Shunsuke Togami and China’s Xu Haidong.
Also representing Africa is Egypt’s Hana Goda, one of the continent’s brightest female talents. Seeded 15th in the women’s singles, Goda also earned a second-round berth and will face either Japan’s Sakura Yokoi or South Korea’s Joo Cheonhui.
The tournament, held at Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana, promises a thrilling week of top-tier table tennis action across five categories.
Singles champions will walk away with $17,000 and 600 ITTF ranking points, while doubles winners will claim $5,500 along with an equal number of points.
