Despite leading the scoring charts in Belgium with 16 goals and earning a call-up to the Super Eagles, striker Tolulope Arokodare insists he still has work to do on his professionalism.
The towering forward made the final 23-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. However, he admits he has not yet reached the level he aspires to.
“Although I am certainly not where I want or need to be, I must be honest with myself—my professionalism is one of the biggest areas I need to improve,” Arokodare told Het Belang van Limburg.
“I always assume everyone is my friend, but that’s not always the case. I tend to talk a lot and try to explain things, but sometimes I just need to learn to keep quiet,” he admitted.
“I’m convinced that my flaws wouldn’t be as noticeable if I spoke less,” the striker added.
“I work very hard on this, but it’s incredibly difficult. I’m now 24 years old and have been open my whole life—changing something so ingrained is not easy.”
