Al Ahly, Egypt’s footballing giant, has marked a significant milestone with in its long-anticipated vision with the official launch of the “Project of the Century”.
The sprawling sports city, located in Sheikh Zayed, west of Cairo, was revealed during the FIFA Club World Cup trophy ceremony on Friday.
Supported by a blend of local and international partners, this ambitious project is set to revolutionize Egypt’s sports infrastructure and solidify Al Ahly’s dominance in African football.
Key Features of the Project Include:
A 42,000-Seat Stadium: Designed without a running track to bring fans closer to the action, meeting international standards.
Specialized Facilities: The city will house a sports hospital, a museum celebrating Al Ahly’s 120-year history, a sports university, a youth academy, and a hotel.
Phased Construction: The first phase focuses on the stadium and hotel, while the second phase will introduce the university, hospital, and additional training pitches.
The stadium’s final design was unveiled at a prestigious event at Luxor’s Hatshepsut Temple, attended by key figures from the club and project partners. This moment also served as a prelude to Al Ahly’s participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion expected in about 200 weeks (roughly four years).
