Host nation Morocco got their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign off to a winning start with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Comoros in the tournament’s opening match
After a cagey first half, the Atlas Lions turned up the tempo following the restart and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Brahim Diaz broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal to ignite celebrations among the home fans.
Morocco continued to dominate proceedings and sealed the victory in the 74th minute as Youssef En-Nesyri’s replacement, Ayoub El Kaabi, doubled the advantage to put the result beyond doubt.
The win gives Morocco an early boost in their quest for continental glory on home soil, while Comoros will look to bounce back in their next group fixture.
