With just weeks to the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has advised head coach Eric Chelle to assert firm authority over his team as preparations intensify.

Oliseh, a former Ajax and Nigeria international, emphasized the importance of independence and strong decision-making for any coach heading into a major tournament. He cautioned Chelle against allowing external forces to dictate his squad choices.

“The first thing the manager has to do is grow a little bit stubborn,” Oliseh said. “It is no secret that people from outside will try to influence who plays and who doesn’t play. He has to stand his ground and show personality. He is responsible. Make your team and decide who’s going to play.”

Chelle is expected to announce his final list in the coming days as Super Eagles aim for a strong showing in Morocco.
