Mozambique’s national team has been promised a substantial financial incentive ahead of their round of 16 clash against Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo has approved a special bonus of 500,000 meticais equivalent to about ₦11.3 million for each player and member of the coaching crew if the Mambas defeat the Super Eagles and advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The Head of State made the announcement while commending the team for qualifying for the knockout stage of the competition. Mozambique finished third in Group F, despite suffering a 2–1 defeat to Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in their final group match.

In a message addressed to the players and technical staff, President Chapo praised their overall performance during the group stage, describing their achievement as remarkable and a source of pride for the entire nation.

He further lauded the team’s bravery, hard work, and resilience, noting that their collective determination had earned Mozambique a notable milestone on the continental stage.

According to a report by Jornal Notícias, the incentive is aimed at motivating the Mambas as they prepare for the high-stakes encounter against Nigeria, with a place in the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals at stake.
