The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed down a series of disciplinary sanctions against the Senegalese and Moroccan football federations, as well as several players and officials, following incidents during and after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, CAF confirmed that the punishments were imposed for breaches of the CAF Disciplinary Code, including violations of fair play, loyalty, and integrity.

Sanctions on Senegal

CAF imposed heavy penalties on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) and members of the Senegal national team:

Head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw was suspended for five official CAF matches for “unsporting conduct” and “bringing the game into disrepute,” and fined USD 100,000.

Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye was suspended for two CAF matches for unsporting behaviour towards the referee.

Ismaila Sarr also received a two-match CAF suspension for similar conduct.

The FSF was fined:
USD 300,000 for improper conduct of supporters.

USD 300,000 for unsporting conduct of players and technical staff.

USD 15,000 for team misconduct after five players were cautioned in the match.
Sanctions on Morocco

CAF also issued multiple punishments to the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) and Moroccan players:

Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two CAF matches, with one match suspended for one year, for unsporting behaviour.

Ismaël Saibari received a three-match CAF suspension and a USD 100,000 fine.

The FRMF was fined:
USD 200,000 for inappropriate behaviour of stadium ball boys.

USD 100,000 for improper conduct of players and technical staff, including invading the VAR area and obstructing the referee.

USD 15,000 for the use of lasers by Moroccan supporters during the match.
Protest Rejected

CAF also ruled on a protest filed by the FRMF against Senegal, concerning alleged violations of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations.

The CAF Disciplinary Board rejected the protest, confirming that no breach of the regulations by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football was established in relation to the AFCON Morocco 2025 final.

The sanctions bring a formal end to CAF’s disciplinary process following the controversial final.
