Nigerian international Olanrewaju Kayode was in inspired form on Saturday, netting twice as Erokspor defeated Hatayspor 4-1 in a Turkish Lig 1 encounter.
The Super Eagles striker set the tone early, opening the scoring just eight minutes into the clash. His sharp movement and clinical finish gave the home fans plenty to cheer about and put Erokspor firmly in control.
Erokspor continued to dominate, adding two more goals before Hatayspor could respond. The visitors pulled one back through former Golden Eaglets winger Funsho Bamgboye, who capitalised on a defensive lapse to reduce the deficit.
Kayode sealed the victory in the 71st minute, latching onto a precise through ball to notch Erokspor’s fourth of the evening and complete his brace.
The 31-year-old forward has now scored three goals this season, underscoring his importance to the club’s promotion push.
With the win, Erokspor climbed to third place on the standings with 10 points from five matches just two adrift of league leaders Çorum.
Kayode’s red-hot form will be encouraging news for Nigeria’s national team selectors as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
