Chelsea Football Club have been hit with 74 charges by the Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaching several of its regulations.
In a statement released on Thursday, the FA said the charges relate to:
Football Agents Regulations (J1 and C2)
Rules on Working with Intermediaries (A2 and A3)
Third-Party Investment in Players Regulations (A1 and B3)
The alleged offences cover the period from 2009 to 2022, with most said to have occurred between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons. Chelsea have until 19 September 2025 to respond.
Reacting to the announcement, the Stamford Bridge club stressed that the matters were voluntarily disclosed after its 2022 takeover:
“Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that its engagement with The FA regarding matters self-reported by the club is reaching a conclusion.
During due diligence prior to the purchase of the club on 30 May 2022, the new ownership became aware of potentially incomplete financial reporting and possible breaches of FA rules.
Immediately after the acquisition, the club reported these issues to all relevant regulators, including The FA, and has since shown unprecedented transparency, granting full access to its files and historical data.
We will continue to cooperate with The FA to resolve this matter as quickly as possible and thank them for their professionalism in addressing issues dating back more than a decade.”
