Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his final 23-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
Team captain William Troost-Ekong leads the roster that also features midfield maestro Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, and star forwards Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen. Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali retains his spot after strong performances, while defenders Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, and Bright Osayi-Samuel also make the cut.
Wilfred Ndidi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Frank Onyeka bolster the midfield, with attacking options widened by Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and Cyriel Dessers.
Greece-based goalkeeper Adeleye Adebayo returns to the squad, alongside recent Unity Cup standouts Felix Agu and Benjamin Fredericks. Forwards Christantus Uche and Tolu Arokodare—impressive in the June friendly against Russia in Moscow—also earn call-ups.
Nigeria will first face Rwanda’s Amavubi on Saturday, 6th September at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, before traveling to Bloemfontein for a Matchday 8 clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, 9th September.
