Arsenal have been dealt a major setback with Bukayo Saka ruled out for up to a month after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Leeds United.
The 23-year-old forward, who limped off during the game, will miss Sunday’s trip to Liverpool as well as England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
Adding to Arsenal’s worries, captain Martin Odegaard is also a doubt for the Anfield showdown after sustaining a shoulder injury in the same match. The Norway international was forced off in the first half and left the Emirates Stadium with his arm in a sling.
While Odegaard has not yet been ruled out, there is cautious optimism within the club that neither he nor Saka will face long-term absences. The news comes as a relief considering Saka missed three months of last season with a similar hamstring issue.
Manager Mikel Arteta is expected to turn to Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman as cover options ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League encounter.
