Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella has declared his ambition to feature for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the last edition.

Tella was left out of the Super Eagles’ squad for the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, where Nigeria finished as runners-up.

The 24-year-old has only a handful of appearances for the three-time African champions and is eager to establish himself on the international stage.

“Because I missed out on the AFCON last year, my first aim is to be in the squad for AFCON 2025. I saw how well the boys did, and obviously, the final was unfortunate,” Tella told The Olympics.

“Watching them represent our country and seeing Nigeria do really well made me proud that’s what motivates me even more.”

The 2025 AFCON will be staged in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026.
