Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles wrapped up their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign on a positive note, securing a 2-0 win over Congo.
The team had already been eliminated from the tournament after back-to-back defeats in their opening two matches. Defending champions Senegal edged them 1-0 in the first game, before Sudan compounded their woes with a resounding 4-0 victory.
In their final group fixture at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Tuesday, goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi ensured Nigeria claimed all three points.
The result saw Nigeria finish third in the group with three points, while Congo ended bottom with two.
