Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has outlined the two key conditions that must be met for the club to consider selling Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman this summer.
Lookman reportedly handed in a transfer request after Atalanta rejected Inter Milan’s €45m offer, accusing the club of going back on an agreement to let him leave.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Percassi clarified the club’s stance.
“It’s important to clarify what happened,” he told TMW. “Last year, after a €20m bid from PSG, the player asked to leave.
“Atalanta, being a credible club, promised to sell him this summer under two conditions: first, that he moves to a top, elite European club; and second, that he would never play for another Italian club apart from Atalanta, considering what he has given to and received from the club.
“Today, the situation is very different. The club always carefully evaluates the value and timing regarding its players, but ultimately, it is Atalanta that decides.”
