Kenya kicked off their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign on a high note with a narrow 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in a Group A clash on Sunday.
Midfielder Austin Odhiambo netted the decisive goal with a brilliant left-footed strike just before halftime (47′), sealing three crucial points for the Harambee Stars.
The match, played at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, was graced by several high-profile attendees, including Kenyan President William Ruto and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
This triumph marks a historic moment for Kenya, as it stands as their first-ever victory at the CHAN finals.
