Nigeria’s D’Tigress sent a strong statement of intent on Saturday with a commanding 92–45 victory over Rwanda in their opening group game of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket in Ivory Coast.
From tip-off, the reigning champions took control of the encounter, leaving Rwanda on the back foot throughout. By halftime, Nigeria had already established a comfortable 20-point cushion, heading into the break with a 45–25 lead.
The third quarter saw D’Tigress further widen the gap, extending their dominance to 71–37, effectively putting the contest beyond Rwanda’s reach.
The Nigerians wrapped up the one-sided affair in the final quarter, sealing an emphatic 92–45 win to kick-start their title defense in style.
