The semi-final pairings for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations have been officially confirmed following the conclusion of the quarter-final clashes on Saturday.
Ghana booked their place in the last four after edging out Algeria in a dramatic penalty shootout, with the game ending 0-0 after extra time. Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan was the standout performer, saving spot-kicks from Marine Dafeur and Inès Belloumou to seal the win for the Black Queens.
Ghana will now face tournament hosts Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday.
In the other semi-final fixture, defending champions South Africa will square off against Nigeria’s Super Falcons. Bayana Bayana also had to rely on penalties to advance, after a goalless draw with Senegal over 120 minutes.
