Paul Onuachu has picked up an ankle injury during a pre-season friendly, potentially sidelining the Nigerian international for up to four weeks a blow to Trabzonspor’s early-season plans.
The 31-year-old striker, who recently finalized a permanent switch from Southampton, sustained the injury in a warm-up match against Azerbaijani outfit Araz Nakhchivan.
A medical update from Trabzonspor, cited by AbcGazetesi, revealed “intense swelling” and partial ligament damage in his left ankle.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, head of the club’s medical board, confirmed: “Following the impact, significant oedema and a partial ligament tear were detected in Onuachu’s left ankle. Treatment has already commenced.”
