Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, says his team is fully prepared and confident ahead of their highly anticipated quarter-final showdown against Zambia at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for Friday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Nigeria, nine-time WAFCON champions, topped Group B after winning back-to-back matches and drawing their final group game against Algeria—becoming the first team to book a quarter-final spot.

In a rematch of their 2022 WAFCON third-place clash, Nigeria will take on the Copper Queens of Zambia, who finished second in Group A.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Coach Madugu said his team has studied Zambia and is ready to deal with their attacking threat.

“We have our strategies; we’ve watched them closely and understand their style. We’ll focus on neutralizing their strengths—we’re not overly concerned about individual players,” Madugu said.

“We respect them, we know their quality, but we’re focused on our own game. We’ll be ready with a plan on matchday.”

The Super Falcons are aiming to claim their 10th continental title at this year’s tournament.
