Super Eagles captain and newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars, Ahmed Musa, has admitted that Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are slim, saying only a miracle can make it happen.
Speaking during his first press conference in his new role, Musa addressed Nigeria’s current position in the World Cup qualifiers and the slim hope that hinges on a possible FIFA disciplinary decision involving Lesotho.
According to reports, Lesotho allegedly fielded two ineligible players who had accumulated yellow cards in previous matches, a violation that could lead to FIFA annulling their results including the draw against South Africa. Should that happen, the points could potentially be awarded to Nigeria.
“We are still hopeful, but to be honest, we’re in a very tough situation. At this point, only a miracle can take Nigeria to the World Cup,” Musa stated candidly.
