The dream of having the African Football League (AFL) to hold in 2024 is set to become a mirage.

The maiden edition of the competition was held in 2023 and it was Mamelodi Sundown who emerged as the winner.

They defeated African champions Al Ahly of Egypt 2-1 in the final.

The second edition was initially scheduled to hold towards the end of the year but the update from the CAF headquarters in Cairo indicated that the competition is to take place in 2025.

The update further suggests that the African Super League will take place between January to February 2025.

Enyimba International represented Nigeria in the inaugural edition.
