As the Flying Eagles prepare for their opening match in the ongoing U20 Africa Cup of Nations, defender Emmanuel Chukwu has emphasized that the team’s primary objective is to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Nigeria, seven-time champions of the tournament, are set to take on Tunisia in their group opener. Chukwu stressed the importance of starting strong and securing a place on the global stage.
“As the coach said, our first goal is to qualify for the World Cup. After that, we can set our sights on winning the trophy,” he told NFF TV.
The tournament, currently taking place in Egypt, doubles as the qualifying event for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Chile later this year.
