Flamingos cruise to 4-0 victory over Algeria in World Cup qualifier first leg

Nigeria’s Flamingos secured a dominant 4-0 win over Algeria in the first leg of the final round of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers on Saturday in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Queen Joseph starred with a brace, while Zainab Raji and Aishat Animashaun also found the back of the net.

Joseph opened the scoring in just the first minute, setting the tone for a commanding performance. Raji doubled the lead in the 13th minute, and Joseph struck again to make it 3-0 before halftime.

Animashaun capped off the victory with a late goal in the 90th minute, giving the Flamingos a strong advantage ahead of the return leg.

The second leg is scheduled to take place in Algeria in the coming days.
