The Philadelphia-born American Cavan Sullivan overtakes Freddy Adu, who was 14 years and 306 days old when he made his MLS debut for DC United in 2004.
Adu went on to play 17 times for the US national team, scoring twice but never lived up to his enormous promise.
Sullivan came on in the 85th minute in a game in which Philadelphia was leading 5-1. That was the final score.
Sullivan’s 20-year-old brother Quinn had scored in the 84th minute. The younger of the two brothers had a shot on goal in added time, but the effort was stopped by New England goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic, preventing an even more legendary debut for the youngster.
Sullivan already knows where he will be playing in three years: on his 18th birthday, he will transfer to Manchester City, his dream club.
Until then, the talent, who was coveted by the entire European top, will continue to play for the Philadelphia Union.
There he is on the payroll for a huge amount, according to various American media, the teenager earns more than 500,000 dollars, which is more than 450,000 euros.
