Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have secured a spot in the final qualifying round for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a 2-0 victory over South Africa’s Bantwana.

With a dominant 5-1 aggregate win, Bankole Olowookere’s squad took control early but had to wait until the 37th minute to break the deadlock. Forward Harmony Chidi fired in a superb strike from inside the box, marking her third goal of the qualifiers.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Aishat Animashaun doubled Nigeria’s lead, sealing a comfortable win.

The Flamingos will now face the winner of the Botswana vs. Algeria clash in the final qualifying round. The overall victor will earn a spot at the U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco later this year.
