Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has urged his Rangers teammates to remain focused and avoid complacency ahead of their Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.
Rangers hold a strong advantage going into the second leg of their UEFA Europa League tie on Thursday after securing a 3-1 away victory in Turkey. However, Balogun insists the job is far from done.
“It’s a big week with two important fixtures. Fenerbahce is first, and while we had a great result over there, we’re facing the Special One and a team with very good players. This tie is far from over,” Balogun told Daily Record.
“For me, it’s always about taking things one game at a time. The weekend fixture is there, but right now, our priority is progressing in Europe. That means full focus on Fenerbahce—I’m sorry if that sounds boring!”
Reflecting on the first-leg performance, Balogun acknowledged the challenge ahead.
“We played really well and got a strong result, but this is Mourinho we’re talking about. He’ll have a few tricks up his sleeve, and I’m sure he wasn’t happy after the first leg. However, we take confidence from our performance, and I believe we can step up even more, especially in possession.”
