Cole Palmer’s penalty streak ends against Leicester City

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer saw his flawless penalty record come to an end on Sunday against Leicester City.

Palmer had the opportunity to break his goal drought in the first half at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old had been struggling for form, going eight games without finding the net before facing the Foxes.

The chance came after Jadon Sancho was brought down by Viktor Kristiansen, earning Chelsea a penalty. Palmer, who had converted all 12 of his previous spot-kicks—often favoring precision over power—had showcased his confidence earlier in the season with Panenka finishes against Brighton and Tottenham.

This time, however, he opted for a powerful strike toward Mads Hermansen’s left-hand post, but the Leicester goalkeeper reacted swiftly to deny him.
