FIFA is set to distribute a record-breaking $1 billion in prize money for the 2025 Club World Cup, making it the largest payout in club football history for a seven-match format.
The global football governing body has secured significant sponsorship and broadcasting deals in preparation for the tournament’s expanded format.
According to The Independent, $575 million will be allocated for participation, while $465 million will be awarded based on sporting performance. However, participation fees will not be evenly distributed among all clubs. Instead, funds will be allocated through confederations, taking into account the varying competitive landscapes across regions.
Top clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea could earn between $60 million and $90 million from the competition.
Additionally, FIFA will provide at least $150 million in “solidarity payments” to clubs that are not competing in the tournament.
