For the first time in World Cup history, the final of the 2026 tournament will feature a half-time show, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced.

Speaking on Wednesday, Infantino also revealed that Times Square will play a central role during the final and third-place match as part of the event’s celebrations.

This move brings the World Cup closer to the entertainment-driven spectacle of the Super Bowl, adding a new dimension to the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup, set to take place across 16 cities in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be the most expansive edition yet.

“I can confirm the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York/New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen,” Infantino shared on Instagram.

“This will be a historic moment for the World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.”
