Bayer Leverkusen’s Sporting Director, Simon Rolfes, has expressed his satisfaction with the team’s energy but believes Nigerian forward Victor Boniface went too far by pushing Emil Buendía.
The incident occurred during Leverkusen’s 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, as Boniface, eager to score a fifth goal, clashed with his teammate.
Rolfes appreciated the team’s passion but disapproved of Boniface’s reaction.
“We want a team that’s full of life, but Boni doesn’t need to push him away,” Rolfes told Mirror.
Boniface has faced challenges at Leverkusen despite maintaining a solid goal-scoring record. After playing a key role in last season’s title-winning campaign, the 24-year-old has lost his starting spot to Patrik Schick, who has netted 22 goals in 32 games this season.
