Valencia manager Carlos Corberán has called on Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar to step up his contributions to the team.

Umar played a crucial role in Valencia’s 3-3 draw against Osasuna on Sunday evening, scoring twice to rescue a point for his side.

While Corberán praised the striker’s performance, he also emphasized the need for more from him and the entire squad.

“Scoring three goals is good, but conceding three is not,” Corberán said after the match. “To win, we need to be more defensively solid. Attacking doesn’t mean you can’t defend better in key moments.”

He further stressed the team’s defensive struggles, saying, “We weren’t as compact as we should have been. We needed to control the game better with the ball, but we failed to do so.”

On Umar’s impact, Corberán added: “Sadiq arrived with great commitment and a strong work ethic. We will continue to give him the confidence he needs to help the team even more.”
